The Trust Companies Association (a private organization) was originally established in February 1919. Its name was changed to the Trust Companies Association of Japan in 1923 when the Trust Act and the Trust Business Act were enacted. In January 1926, with the approval of the Ministry of Finance as the competent government agency at that time, the association changed its legal status and became incorporated. Subsequently, with the amendments to the public interest corporations system, the association changed its legal status in October 2011 to that of a “general incorporated association.”
